FairVote Board Chair Krist Novoselic on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

Released April 9, 2014

It’s a big week for our friends from Nirvana! FairVote board chair Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl will be guests on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this evening. Tomorrow night, they are being inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame.

Last month, Krist visited Washington, D.C. for FairVote’s Board Member Weekend. He made the most of his time here by hosting FairVote events and meeting with reform partners. He appeared on Politico Television to discuss our work on replacing winner-take-all elections with fair representation voting. Time featured "Why the World Needs Céline Dion Fans", Krist’s commentary on the importance of civic engagement.  You can find his blog and a collection of Krist’s writings on FairVote.org.

Matching gifts through May 4th: FairVote executive director Rob Richie is running his first-ever marathon onMay 4th (after having never run more than ten miles last fall). Krist is taking the lead in supporting Rob’s run and we hope you will too!  Board members have committed to matching, dollar-for-dollar, all donations from long-time and new supporters to take FairVote to the next level with our First Million campaign. Please give Rob further inspiration to cross the finish line!

Breaking story:  Our hometown Takoma Park held a special election for its vacant city council seat yesterday. The election featured several reforms that we strongly support, including instant runoff voting and inclusive suffrage rights (all current residents of the ward who are at least 16 years of age can vote). Turnout in the ward was the highest it has been in a generation, and instant runoff voting elected the final round winner, Kate Stewart. We'll be releasing exit survey results soon; among the findings is landslide support for all of Takoma Park's voting rules.
