On June 7, the New York State Senate voted 52-7 in favor of the National Popular Vote (NPV) plan, with landslide majorities of Senators from both major parties backing reform. On June 2, the Massachusetts House voted 114-35  in favor of NPV. NPV will guarantee election of the candidate who wins the national popular vote in all 50 states and DC. It has become law in five states, passed chambers in 15 more and gained the backing of more than 1,800 state legislators and an impressive reform coalition. It goes into effect after adoption in states representing a majority of the Electoral College.
