In an Internet broadcast, former presidential candidate John Kerry echoed this sentiment, calling for new "national standards" for elections. Said Kerry, "I'm going to fight for national standards for federal elections. Standards that have both transparency and accountability in our voting system. It's unacceptable in the United States of America that people still don't have full confidence in the integrity of the voting process. I ask you to join me in this cause."

In Ohio on Monday, November 29th, Reverend Jesse Jackson also spoke out in favor of reform, emphasizing the need for an amendment to the Constitution to protect the right to vote. In response to these mounting cries for change, FairVote's Right to Vote Initiative advocates an agenda of eight crucial reforms.
