At FairVote, we believe that every student should have an opportunity to learn about how they can participate in the political process before they leave high school. Learning Democracy is an interactive curriculum that engages students and prepares them for a life of civic activity.
The National Curriculum includes a Teacher’s Edition, an interactive and informative PowerPoint presentation, and a script to accompany the presentation. The curriculum is focused on overarching voting trends, beginning with the nation’s inception and continuing through the Civil Rights movement to the present. The national curriculum is designed to engage students while inspiring a more informed and active generation of young people.
Our Active Civics lesson plans promote learning by doing. Being an engaged citizen isn't a test with right or wrong answers, so why do we treat civics education that way?
