Uniform Voter Registration Age--Resource Page
Setting a uniform voter registration age of 16-years-old will enable more young people to register to vote and participate in the first election for which they are eligible. Schools will have more flexibility when conducting voter registration drives and young people will be able to register to vote when they receive their driver's permit at the DMV. In 2008, the Maryland General Assembly failed to take action in setting a uniform registration age, although the vast majority of members in both chambers agreed with the policy. Our hope is that the General Assembly take action next session to encourage youth participation in the political process.Below, you will find resources to help you advocate for this policy. Please contact your Delegate or Senator and urge them to set a uniform voter registration age of 16-years-old.
