National Popular Vote Wins Big in Massachusetts House

Massachusetts

The Massachusetts House of Representatives voted 114-35 today in favor of the National Popular Vote (NPV) plan. Once implemented upon approval by states representing a majority of the Electoral College, NPV will guarantee election of the candidate who wins the national popular vote in all 50 states and DC. It has become law in five states, passed chambers in 14 more and gained the backing of more than 1,800 state legislators and an impressive reform coalition.

FairVote's research shows just how broken the current system is -- and why it's time for states to act on their constitutional obligation to take action.
